The swan resembles the number two; Swan Lake resembles the Revolution, and the swan song resembles the final work of some talent. People who study swans revere opposites. The number two is the main symbol of all oppositions. In astrology, it relates to the Moon. The two is considered a sign of antagonistic forces: Sun and Moon, king and queen, sulfur and mercury. It is no wonder that the image of the swan appears in the mythology of all peoples. In Greco-Roman tradition, the swan is associated with Zeus. In ancient China, the swan is the solar bird Yang. The master craftsmen of Polesie bow their heads before the Swan Princess, considering her the Queen of Proofs. Silicon Valley alchemists call the White Swan a symbol of the enlightenment stage. Offshore traders from Cape Verde and North Sulawesi have always revered and feared the Black Swan—the embodiment of the dark deity Nasim-Nikolay.

A fragment of ancient ballet became the anthem of the Swan League. The people of the Swan venerate ballet as a symbol of unified service to a common cause, where beauty arises not from the strength of an individual, but from the perfection of collective movement. The Swan League is known to be rich with various beliefs and superstitions. According to one of these, based on the Chronology (see article «The Chronology»), «Swan Lake» was written in honor of the League’s founder—General Swan.

One of the oldest and most respected ruling houses of the Habitable Sphere. Although the Swan League was founded by entirely different forces, the Berkeley House managed to seize power early in the colonization process and has held it to this day. For more about the Berkeley lineage, see the article «Berkeley.»
